Eight games were played in the NBA on Monday. Here's a recap of the action:
Chicago 122-112 Detroit
Zach LaVine erupted in the fourth quarter, scoring 16 of his 25 points and hitting six three-pointers to lead the Chicago Bulls past the Detroit Pistons, 122-112. Nikola Vucevic added 29 points and 12 rebounds, while Coby White chipped in 25. Despite Cade Cunningham’s 26 points and 10 assists, the Pistons couldn’t keep up with the Bulls’ hot shooting, as Chicago nailed 23 three-pointers at a 50% clip. The win positions the Bulls for a tough matchup against Milwaukee on Wednesday.
Indiana 119-130 Toronto
RJ Barrett delivered a season-high 39 points, and Jakob Poeltl dominated with 30 points and 15 rebounds as the Toronto Raptors snapped a seven-game losing streak with a 130-119 victory over the Indiana Pacers. Barrett led a key fourth-quarter run to fend off a strong late push from Benedict Mathurin, who scored 17 of his 28 points in the final frame. Toronto shot efficiently despite committing 23 turnovers and improved to 3-12, with all wins coming at home. The Raptors next host Minnesota on Thursday.
Washington 106-134 NY Knicks
Jalen Brunson tallied 26 points and 11 assists to propel the New York Knicks to a commanding 134-106 win over the Washington Wizards, extending the Wizards' losing streak to nine games. Karl-Anthony Towns added 24 points and 12 rebounds, while the Knicks sank 20 three-pointers to register their highest point total of the season. The Knicks rested their starters in the fourth quarter and now embark on a five-game road trip, starting Wednesday in Phoenix.
Philadelphia 89-106 Miami
Jimmy Butler scored a season-high 30 points in his return from injury, leading the Miami Heat to a 106-89 comeback win over the Philadelphia 76ers. After trailing by 19 in the second quarter, Miami outscored Philadelphia 35-16 in the third to seize control. Tyler Herro added 18 points, while Joel Embiid managed just 11 for the struggling 76ers, who have now dropped 11 of 13 games. Miami has a lengthy break before hosting Dallas on Sunday.
Houston 100-101 Milwaukee
Damian Lillard returned from concussion protocol to deliver a game-winning layup with 3.9 seconds left, lifting the Milwaukee Bucks to a thrilling 101-100 victory over the Houston Rockets. Brook Lopez led the Bucks with 27 points and 10 rebounds, while Giannis Antetokounmpo contributed 20 points, 14 boards, and a crucial late-game block. Fred VanVleet scored 26 for Houston, which saw its five-game win streak snapped after struggling from deep and shooting just 40% from the field. The Bucks host Chicago next, while the Rockets face Indiana.
Orlando 109-99 Phoenix
Franz Wagner exploded for 32 points, and Anthony Black added 20 as the Orlando Magic secured a 109-99 win over the injury-depleted Phoenix Suns. The Magic capitalized on Phoenix missing key players like Kevin Durant and Bradley Beal, building a lead as large as 19 points. Tyus Jones scored 18 for the Suns, while Devin Booker was held to 17 after a 44-point outing in his previous game. Orlando’s sixth straight defensive gem sends them to the Clippers next, while Phoenix hosts the Knicks.
Atlanta 109-108 Sacramento
De'Andre Hunter's 24 points and Dyson Daniels’ game-saving block in the final seconds helped the Atlanta Hawks edge the Sacramento Kings 109-108 in a dramatic finish. Trae Young dished out 19 assists despite a quiet scoring night, while Clint Capela delivered a double-double and scored Atlanta's decisive late points. Keon Ellis led Sacramento with a career-high 33 points, but the Kings, missing stars like Domantas Sabonis, couldn’t overcome their shorthanded lineup. Atlanta now heads to Golden State, while Sacramento visits the Clippers.
Golden State 99-102 LA Clippers
Norman Powell’s 23 points, including clutch fourth-quarter threes, powered the Los Angeles Clippers past the Golden State Warriors 102-99 in a nail-biter. James Harden added 12 points and 16 assists, while Ivica Zubac grabbed 17 rebounds as the Clippers won their fifth straight at home. Stephen Curry led the Warriors with 26 points, but his missed three in the final seconds sealed the loss. The Warriors were held to 36% shooting from deep, and their three-game win streak came to an end. The Clippers host Orlando next, and the Warriors take on Atlanta.
