There were only 5 games in the NHL on Wednesday night, but 3 of those games ended in shutouts. Here's what happened around the league:

Toronto 3, Vegas 0

Joseph Woll delivered a stellar 31-save shutout as the Toronto Maple Leafs blanked the Vegas Golden Knights at Scotiabank Arena. Fraser Minten notched his first NHL goal, while William Nylander and Pontus Holmberg added insurance to secure the win. Despite missing several key players, Toronto’s strong defensive effort earned praise, with Woll highlighting the team’s resilience and composure. The Leafs extended their strong form to 6-1-0 in their past seven games, while Vegas faltered in the third period, managing just five shots.

Carolina 4, Philadelphia 1

The Carolina Hurricanes broke open a tied game with a dominant third period to down the Philadelphia Flyers. Sebastian Aho’s game-winning goal made franchise history, surpassing Ron Francis for the most game-winners in team history. Jalen Chatfield, Jordan Staal, and Jack Roslovic also scored, capitalizing on Philadelphia's 25 turnovers. The Hurricanes extended their hot streak to 12 wins in their last 14 games, while Flyers coach John Tortorella lamented poor puck management in the neutral zone.

Dallas 5, San Jose 2

Jason Robertson snapped a scoring drought with a goal and two assists to lead the Dallas Stars past the San Jose Sharks. Wyatt Johnston and Roope Hintz also tallied multi-point games as Dallas capitalized on defensive breakdowns by San Jose. Despite a shorthanded goal from Mikael Granlund and a late tally by Jake Walman, the Sharks fell short again. Dallas improved to 4-1-0 in their past five games, while San Jose’s miscues continued to prove costly.

Seattle 3, Nashville 0

Joey Daccord recorded a 24-save shutout as the Seattle Kraken bested the Nashville Predators at Climate Pledge Arena. Brandon Montour and Daniel Sprong found the net, while Chandler Stephenson provided three assists in Seattle’s fifth win in six games. Nashville’s scoring woes persisted, as they were shut out for the fourth time this season. The Predators ended their road trip with a disappointing 1-2-2 record, unable to overcome Seattle’s speed and efficiency.

Buffalo 1, Los Angeles 0

Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen was flawless with a 24-save shutout, leading the Buffalo Sabres past the Los Angeles Kings. Jason Zucker redirected a Rasmus Dahlin shot for the lone goal early in the third period. Luukkonen credited his teammates for their defensive efforts, helping Buffalo to its fifth win in seven games. The Kings couldn’t capitalize on several quality chances, as a strong Sabres penalty kill and tight defense preserved the victory.
